WELCOME TO DRUM ARIZONA

Drum Arizona is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit charitable organization helping to reduce stress and tension in our community by giving children who are homeless, hospitalized or in foster group homes African Djembe and Native American style drums and by facilitating free community drum circles.

About Us

Dr. Lydia A. Woods, EdD, MDiv, M.A.C.E., is the founder & CEO of Drum Arizona, Inc., a non-profit organization, formed to provide communities with the experience of African Djembe and Native American style drumming.

Current medical research indicates that drumming has many health benefits. The goal of Drum Arizona is to promote physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual healing through a dynamic drumming experience.

Throughout the year, Drum Arizona partners with volunteers in senior communities for charitable projects. These include:

  • Create-shops where volunteers craft handmade, hand-painted drums and drumming equipment. These are then donated to children who are homeless, hospitalized or in foster group homes in the Phoenix and surrounding area.
  • Facilitate free drum circles for:
    • the homeless community in parks and shelters.
    • local communities, in churches, senior living communities, hospitals, etc.

Through each event, Drum Arizona seeks to provide a way to support the emotional, psychological and spiritual healing process of individuals and the community. We endeavor to inspire visions of hope!
